Rescued Stool!
I have had the pleasure of working with a couple on three different kitchens. The last kitchen we worked on was for their daughter. This stool was left in the home when the previous homeowner moved. I made a comment about how much I loved the stool and their reply was we don't love it, its going to the trash pile. I said I WANT IT! It is now mine - love! This is the condition it was in when I brought it home. I have not completed the restoration (mainly cleaning it up) but I have chosen new fabric for the stool. The pictures are below. What do you think? Should I have rescued it from the trash pile? I think so!!!!!

Welcome!
Welcome to my blog! It's a new year so I'm beginning a new project ~ a blog!
I have posted a few random projects on Facebook. I have always thought that no one would like what I make so I've been shy about posting items. I have got a lot of positive feedback and it could be because it was from a family member or friend (smile). I have been encouraged to blog my finds and the finished projects. The thing is....I have little time to work on my projects so I have a storage building and garage full of "To do" projects. Maybe this blog will help me get going....we shall see!
I work for/with my family at a cabinet shop so....scrap wood and discarded cabinet doors are always available. Next to dumpster diving at the cabinet shop, I love, loVE, LOVE to pick up items on the side of the road. One of the first projects was from a pallet my neighbor put on the side of the road. My husband was at work and two (male) neighbors helped me pick it up and put it in the back of my truck. I still owe Joe cookies...hmmmmm!
As I type this (first) blog, I have 4 wooden shutters in the back seat of my car, yes car, not truck and two wooden windows in the trunk, along with 5 chalkboards I made from cabinet doors. I feel like I have a little bit of Fred G. Sanford in my blood. I have been known to hum the theme of Sanford and Sons as I'm getting out of my car at home.....my husband just rolls his eyes.
One of the perks working at the cabinet shop is I get to work with a lot of folks remodeling and sometimes they are throwing away things that I see potential in (shutters and windows mentioned above). I have come out of my shell about asking can I have whatever it is they are throwing away. You wouldn't believe the stool I got (I will blog about that at a later time - when I finish it ha!).
My job for the remainder of the day is laundry....
Blessings,
Nancy
